The Scheffler Mirror

Convenient cooking with a Solar Reflector

This summer, guests of Tamera eat meals that have been heated by the sun. "I am enthusiastic", Chryssa, one of the cooks states. "It works overwhelmingly well." On May 19th, Tamera´s first Scheffler reflector was inaugurated. Ten square meters in size it´s place is in the meeting place "Aonda" at the Campus, directly by the grey pond.
In a four week seminar Alec Gagneux taught interested guests and co-workers how to build this tool that transforms solar power directly into heat for cooking. In India, Alec advised many villages to build Scheffler reflectors in different sizes and for different purposes. One has even been built as a crematory to burn corpses - a purpose which normally consumes a lot of expensive wood.
Compared with other reflectors the construction by Scheffler makes it very convenient to cook with solar light in the house. The mirrors concentrate the light in a fix focus and send it directly under the pot. The whole reflector turns automatically with the sun during the day.
With the Scheffler reflector Tamera will save a lot of gas for cooking.
When the sun doesn´t shine the reflector doesn´t work. In this case the pot will just be put on the gas oven which is directly next to it.
