The worldwide financial crisis, the continually diminishing natural resources, the change in climate and the increasing natural disasters show us, like never before, that humanity is challenged to transform its way of life and the way it handles the economy.
Almost all of the originally regional self-sustained systems of economy have folded under the pressure of globalisation. Hardly any of the subsistence economies have survived the competitive pressure exerted by multinational concerns.
At the same time though, something new is growing. In many places people have began to develop concrete solutions, perspectives for another life on this planet.
According to all our experience, these solutions lie in the development of new cultural models based on rediscovered human trust and regional autonomy, and on the highest technological and ecological state of knowledge available today.
The reconnection of people with the places they are living is one element of this; the autonomous production of the food they eat, of the energy they use, and the houses they live in is another. Reintegration of human beings into the natural ecological systems and the autonomous administration of their resources (land, water, air, animals, and plants) belong to this new culture. Above all, however, the reconnection of the human being with our original sources of life – love, sexuality, community, trust, truth, mutual support, research, knowledge and meaningful work – are part of it.
For thirty years the founders and co-workers of Tamera have been focused on the investigation and the manifestation of a duplicatable model for such a way of living and economics.
We cooperate with globally active experts in the areas of solar technology, permaculture, water supply, waste water treatment facilities using plants, construction with regional materials, and a new way of dealing with animals. For further details please visit our website www.tamera.org.
In addition to these research projects being carried out in Tamera, we are networked with other peace centers located in the crisis areas of the planet. Donated money flows into the projects which are not financially autonomous (for example, projects with children, our own school, ecological and technological research projects, and peace pilgrimages in crisis areas). With the money you loan to us, we will continue to build our infrastructure (mainly accommodations for our students) or buy more land so that Tamera can grow. And you can invest in economic projects like a solar power plant that will supply the public grid with solar energy.
