Monte Cerro

"Be the change that you want to see in the world"

In 2005, Sabine Lichtenfels wrote in her invitation to Monte Cerro: "The aim is to develop and concretely build up a comprehensive example for a society model in which peace can be studied on all levels. The technical and ecological solutions which will be developed in the form of a village can be combined with the social, cultural and spiritual developments to a pilot model for a non-violent civilisation. For this experiment, we have 332 acres of partly poor land at our disposal, an infrastructure in construction, and 25 years of experience in community building."

"Monte Cerro" has brought Tamera onto a new dimension. Many areas have become more professional or have been newly initiated. Thus, the Solarvillage laboratory was developed and the new Aula with capacity for 300 people was built. The international students and the peace actions in other countries have helped the project to reach a more profound global context.

As the last years showed, Tamera has become an attraction for specialists in fundamental areas of knowledge for the building up of a new culture.

The participants of Monte Cerro can specialize and decide between a more theoretical or more practical study – both methods offering the possibility to further develop an understanding of the knowledge and tasks of Tamera.

The study year also includes international practicals, for example the participation in peace actions, compact seminars about the Solarvillage, about new sciences, about community, peace journalism, ecology and more.

Among all areas of education and work, the central theme is always: "help for the world" with the leading thought: "We have to carry out the changes that we want to see in the outer world, within us."
