Technology Time: July 2020

We invite you to join us in a collaborative research and development time with our technology team, where we will engage in two-way knowledge transfer between Tamera’s Solar Test Field and some of our partners and projects from the Global South. We will work and socialise in the Test Field, with shared community and study times, focusing on the underlying ethical basis that is needed to give our technological work the best foundation to serve humanity.

    Program Details

This time will be guided by our technology team, and it will be a chance to get to know them, their work and the basic thoughts of Tamera. We are looking for people who want to participate in our projects, and who want to and are able to support us in maintaining our facilities.

    You will explore:

    • Our Solar Kitchen, and the pros and cons of the cookers we use there.
    • The changes needed to adapt to a solar lifestyle.
    • Questions about researching energy technologies in cooperation with nature, with the support of technology specialists Felix Hediger and (to be confirmed) Juergen Kleinwaechter.

The program will be composed of:

    • Building and continuing to develop a rocket stove design alongside our friends from Better World Cameroon, who bring their experience in building and using this cooker.
    • Learning about biogas with Fabio Miranda of Favela da Paz, Brazil.
    • Learning how to build La Parabola, a solar cooker developed in South Africa by Dr. Yaholnitsky.
    • Participating in a first round of pathway test surfacing with lime-stabilised-soil that we are currently investigating as an alternative to fossil-fuel based road surfacing.

    Solidarity Fund

Especially this year, we will have guests from the Global South who cannot afford the costs associated with visa, travel and accommodation. We ask you to think about supporting financially so that everyone who wants to join can come.

If you would like to join, please write to solarvillage (@) tamera.org, with some information about who you are and your areas of interest.
