Art Course Tamera –

Painting, Perception & Eros

With great joy, we invite you to an art course in 2026.

For 7 days, we will paint, slow down and open our perception to beauty – in nature, in the human being and in the creative process itself. This year, the course will also explore Eros as a natural life force: a movement of aliveness, connection and truth.

Overview

We understand painting as a way of meeting reality more deeply.

When we dedicate our attention to beauty, something begins to open. Through color, form, light and body, we practice a state of perception in which we can become more present, more receptive and more connected with life.

During this course, we will paint landscapes, still lifes and the human body. We will work outdoors, in direct contact with nature, and follow the question of how art can help us see beyond habitual images – of ourselves, of others and of the world.

“Art from now on is the birthing process of Eros. Something wants and has to see the light of day.” – Dieter Duhm

We understand Eros not primarily as sexuality, but as a natural movement of life: the power that connects, awakens and brings things into expression. In art, this movement can become visible through presence, honesty and beauty.

Beauty is not only found in harmony or shining surfaces. It can also appear in what is raw, vulnerable, unfinished or true. We will explore this field through painting, perception and shared reflection.

Who is this course for?

This course is for beginners, experienced artists and anyone who feels drawn to explore painting as a path of perception, presence and inner inquiry.

You do not need to consider yourself an artist. What matters is curiosity, openness and the willingness to spend a week painting outdoors from morning to evening.

What you can expect

You will be accommodated in our Guest Centre and spend the days with us on Tamera’s Art Mountain, as well as on excursions to inspiring painting places such as the seaside or a remote river.

We will paint with acrylics on hardboard, which will be provided, and practice drawing exercises. The team will accompany participants in their artistic process, and Lukas will offer painting demonstrations.

A central part of the course will be the practice of perception: learning to look, to stay present and to allow an image to emerge. Through painting, we can step out of familiar patterns and enter a different kind of attention – more spacious, embodied and alive.

As we will also paint the human body, nudity may be part of the artistic setting. This will be held with clear boundaries, care and respect. Participants are not asked to be nude.

To support concentration and presence, we ask participants not to use mobile devices during the course hours.

Testimonials

Testimonial by Kerstin Chavent:

This kind of art has nothing to do with commerce, consumption or concepts. It develops from where we are sensitive, insecure, doubtful, vulnerable. It sensitises us to the fact that, as creative beings, we are not only creative at certain points, but in every moment of our lives. The permanent creativity that arises in this way is without a goal, a pure expression of the joy of creation and life.

The Team

Madjana Geusen is, in many ways, a courageous artist. She has lived and worked in the Tamera project for 40 years. Her favorite topics are community building, “painting with light” and the “other reality” – the holistic dimension of our existence that, alongside the predominant normality, awaits the full realization of its information of love, strength, and healing.

Lukas Mauermann (http://lukasmauermann.com/) is a sculptor, painter, father of two, and has lived in Tamera for 15 years. Alongside his artistic work, he teaches in Tamera’s internal school and offers courses for guests.

Robert Gasse is part of Tamera’s communal steering council and is engaged in community building and the Love School. He carries deep knowledge of Tamera’s foundational thoughts and supports spaces of perception, trust and inner inquiry.
