Community Members
Around 160 community members currently live in Tamera, from the newborns to our elders in their 80s. We come from diverse nationalities, cultures and religions and have gathered here in southern Portugal to create a seed for a new planetary community. Solidarity in commitment to healing the Earth is what holds us together through our imperfections and challenges.
The Tamera community is a living organism, an open system. Tamera doesn’t end at the borders of our property – it reaches out into the world. Many of those in our global network belong as much to the community as do the people, animals and plants that live on this land.
30 Voices – Celebrating 30 Years of Tamera
These portraits of Tamera community members were created in 2025 to celebrate Tamera’s 30th anniversary and honour some of the people who have helped shape its journey.
Tamera co-workers share their memories, love, challenges and visions. Thirty different voices offer intimate perspectives on the task of building a peace culture – through photos from our archive and inspiring quotes.

Tamera’s Ancestors
As part of Tamera’s 30-year celebration, we honoured 20 souls from our community who have passed away during the first 30 years of Tamera. Each of them was part of Tamera’s journey in different ways.
This short video is a moment of remembrance and gratitude — for their lives, their presence, and the traces they have left behind in our community and in our hearts.
Tamera’s Births
As part of Tamera’s 30-year celebration, we celebrated the next generation – some of the 30 children who were born here and have grown up with Tamera.
This short video is a joyful glimpse of the young personalities who have brought life into the community over the first 30 years.
