Climate-friendly travel to Tamera (from Europe)

Within Europe there are relatively cheap, comfortable and speedy alternatives to flying. From Paris, for example, you can find tickets from €60–100 for bus or train – depending how early you book and in which season. Most tickets can be bought 3 months in advance.

By train: Since the Corona pandemic, night trains to Lisbon have been discontinued and have not yet resumed service. Alternatively, you can travel to Lisbon via Madrid. Tickets can be booked through travel agencies (e.g. bahnfüchse.de), booking websites (e.g. thetrainline.com) or other services; you can also check directly through the websites of the various train companies (France: sncf.fr or Spain: renfe.com).

By Train (from Portugal)

Funcheira is our closest railway station – a 20-minute drive from Tamera. You’ll need to book a shuttle taxi by contacting our office – guest-centre (at) tamera.org – at least 1 week before you arrive. It costs a maximum of €20 – sometimes you’ll be able to share the cost with other people arriving at the same time.
