Our Accommodations

As an emerging Healing Biotope, where people, nature, and community come together, Tamera offers accommodations embedded in a quiet rural setting – enriched by our Water Retention Landscape – in the rolling hills of the Alentejo in southern Portugal. Life here is closely connected to the surrounding landscape and guided by ecological principles.

Our accommodations are modest, without comforts like air conditioning. They offer visitors the chance to experience community-oriented living and to engage with the ecological and social rhythms that shape daily life here.

On this site, you can discover all our accommodation options in detail, including both the accommodations covered in the price and those that require additional payment. You will also find information about the on-site facilities, with maps, photos, and practical details.

We look forward to welcoming you in Tamera!

What accommodation is included in the seminar price?

The prices for our seminars and programs include a basic shared accommodation (in dormitories with 13–20 beds) or a space to place your own tent or your van.
In seperate buildings one finds shared showers, toilets and laundry machines. Please note that most of our toilets are compost toilets.

For an additional cost, we also offer accommodation in a 4-bed Wooden Hut, a double or single bedroom in our Guest House, or one of our individual tents.

When can I choose a different accommodation?

During the registration process, one can choose from these different types of accommodation and check the availability. Please note that not all seminars offer every type of accommodation. If there is an additional cost for your choice it will be added to the price of your stay.

Where are the accommodations located in Tamera?

All accommodations are located in the Campus and Guest House area, either in or next to the Tent Hall (where the seminars take place), or within a five-minute walk of it.

Below are two maps showing the locations of the different accommodation areas in Tamera. The first is a general map of Tamera, while the second focuses on the Campus and Guest Centre.

Our Different Accommodation Options

Please click on each header to get more details and view photos of the different accommodation options.

Dormitories

Above our seminar rooms, we have 4 dormitories with 13–20 beds each, divided into three separate areas: mixed/non-binary, women, and men. The dormitories are accessed via a flight of stairs.

Each bed is equipped with a mattress and pillow (both with covers), a small blanket, a section of a shelf and a box for personal belongings, as well as a bedside lamp and electricity. For staying in the dormitories guests will need to bring their own sleeping bag (or rent one from us for €10 per stay – please let us know during your registration proccess).

The shared facilities include compost toilets, showers and washing machines, located in nearby buildings.

Camping ground with single and group tents

Small tents
Guests can either bring their own tent or rent one from us. A rented tent costs €25 for the entire stay and comes with a mattress and pillow, both with covers. Please note that this area does not have electricity.
If you want to rent a tent, please let us know during your registration process.

Shared big tents
During the summer, we set up big tents to accommodate more guests. Each tent usually fits 4–6 people and is set up like our dormitories, with individual beds (mattresses and pillows with covers), shelves and boxes for your belongings, plus a bedside lamp and electricity.

Own Van

Guests can bring their own van for the duration of their stay in Tamera. We have spaces in our parking lot where vans can be parked and connected to electricity. Please note that depending on the number of campervans at the time, it might not be possible to provide electricity to everyone.

Guests staying in vans can use the same facilities — showers, toilets, and washing machines — as those staying in tents and dormitories.

Shared Facilities at Campus

At the Campus, we have two areas with compost toilets: one behind the Tent Hall, near the showers and laundry, and one below our reception area, closer to the car parking area.

We have 2 shower houses, one for women and one for men, each with a changing area and 3 shared showers. In addition, there is a gender-neutral shower space with a changing area and 2 showers. Also in this area is a place with washing machines and a space to hang laundry.

In the Tent Hall, there is a space to prepare tea, a room with comfortable sofas for reading or relaxing, and an places for working at the computer.

While staying in Tamera, guests can swim in our “Grey Lake,” which is located near the terrace on the Campus. Swimsuits are necessary, as we welcome guests from diverse cultural backgrounds and a public road runs through Tamera.

Visitor Huts

We offer 3 wooden huts in the Guest House area, each with 4 single beds. Each bed comes with a mattress and pillow (both with covers), a small blanket, a section of a shelf, as well as a bedside lamp. Guests staying in the huts need to bring their own sleeping bag (or rent one from us for €10 per stay — please let us know when you register).

Each hut has a small veranda and access to a nearby compost toilet and outdoor showers. The additional cost for staying in a visitor hut is €7 per night per person.

Guest House

Our Guest House offers 7 rooms, with a capacity of 1–3 people (2 adults + 1 child). Guest House rooms are limited and can only be booked for certain seminars.

A single room costs €30 per night, and a double room €23 per night per person (double rooms require 2 people).
Each room shares a bathroom — with a toilet and shower — with one other room.

Guests staying in the Guest House also have access to a common living room with a small kitchen, as well as a washing machine.
