Quiet courage for peace – Monika Alleweldt on speaking tour in April 2026
From 8 to 28 April, I will be on a speaking tour with stops in Austria, Northern Italy, Switzerland and Southern Germany. Drawing form my many years of training peace work in Tamera I aim to inspire courage for peace and to foster networking among like-minded people through my talks.

In our Western tradition, the individual is often seen as an isolated being. The more unique they are—or believe to be—the more autonomous and distinctive they consider their individuality. Their guiding principle is “me first, then us.”
In the African philosophy and way of life known as Ubuntu, this perspective is reversed. Here, the guiding idea is: “I participate, therefore I am,” or “I am because we are.” Only those who enter into relationships—who give, receive, and see themselves as part of a larger living whole—can become fully developed personalities. Individuality arises from a web of connections, growing and flourishing through mutual recognition and care. Happiness and prosperity stem from the ability to share.
During my speaking tour, I will present concrete suggestions for how such a culture based on cooperation and sharing could take root also within our Western model of competition and separation.
