Rise for Gaza: What you can do for Palestinians
The worldwide narrative around Palestine is changing – finally, after almost 20 unbearable months of genocide. Shifts in public opinion often lead to political and cultural transformations, sometimes radically broadening the limits of possibility. But for now, the situation in Gaza keeps growing more catastrophic and heartbreaking every day. Here are some practical suggestions for actions you can take.

There are no more words to describe the limitless debasement of humanity that the Israeli State is imposing on Palestinians, with international complicity. Israel is now very explicit about its plans for occupying the entire area and for a complete ethnic cleansing of all its 2.2 million Palestinian inhabitants. Meanwhile unprecedented land grabbing, violent attacks and bombings continue to target Palestinians in the West Bank.
The words of concern and goodwill by some Western governments come very late and will mean nothing for the people in Gaza so long as those same governments continue sending weapons, oil, money and political support to Israel. Maximum pressure on those governments to turn words into action now is of the essence.
We ask you, all our friends and everyone who cares to stand up for Palestinians and to demand an end to genocide — now!
If you don’t know what to do, here are some suggestions:
- Call or write to your MP: Tell them why this matters to you and implore them to do all they can that your country will impose an arms embargo and sanctions on and sever diplomatic ties and trade agreements with Israel. That their government will recognize Palestine.
- Join and/or organize pro-Palestine marches: Demonstrations alone won’t change the world, but the more people take to the streets and the more often that happens, the likelier are governments to take tangible action.
- Donate to immediate aid relief for the victims in Gaza. We especially recommend giving to Heal Palestine, World Kitchen, Save the Children and Seeds of Hope Gaza, who are directly supporting those starving and suffering in Gaza.
- Boycott Israeli products and institutions: Make sure you don’t support a genocidal state with your money. It works: Boycott was crucial to bringing down apartheid in South Africa. Use the boycat app to complicity-screen products.
- Challenge people in your life who defend the genocide. Tell them why standing with Palestinians isn’t antisemitism but a basic question of humanity. Be clear but avoid shaming and blaming.
- Show your solidarity: on social media, by wearing a keffiyeh or hanging a Palestinian flag outside your window, etc etc.
- Visit Palestine: Witness the situation first hand and lend your support.
