Work Study in our Kitchen

Between the end of March and mid-November 2022, we invite people interested in vegan cooking that want to learn about community building and get to know what an emerging new culture is like. We invite you to learn about the political backgrounds and the practices of vegan cuisine and food autonomy, study the ideas of Tamera and enter into a communitarian mode of life.

Our cuisine is mostly regional, seasonal and vegan. This is an expression of our decision to step away from the systems of exploitation, centralization and industrialized food production, and move toward systems of cooperation. This allows us to have a direct influence on how food is produced and processed. We believe that healthy nutrition plays a key role in creating a healthy system of life.

Program Details

This program consists of about 4 hours of hands-on work each day (5-6 days a week) and regular group meetings. In addition to learning skills about nutrition and food processing, we also offer training in community awareness. Working in a communal kitchen touches social questions of community building that we want to consciously address.

You’ll work in our guest center kitchen, in a team with other guests, and will be accompanied by 1 or 2 community members. We’ll cook for an average of 70 people per meal. We’re looking for people who bring joy, curiosity and commitment. Previous cooking experience isn’t necessary.

We’re looking forward to sharing a creative and communitarian experience.

How to join?

This program is offered to people who would like to stay in Tamera for a longer time during the season and go through a deeper team-building and community process. Through the years we’ve experienced that our kitchen team holds an important social position in our guest center, mainly because they’re in Tamera for longer periods of time and create a base for those people coming for seminars.

We offer 3 time slots throughout the season for you to join our kitchen team:

  • March 25 to June 18
  • June 21 to September 4
  • September 1 to November 12

If you cancel your participation to a course 2 weeks or less before the start of the program, we ask for a cancellation fee of €100.
